Spin It With The Classics Club

classicsclubDo you feel like you’re in a rut with reading goals? Recently, The Classics Club put out a post on “spinning” your classics list, which is basically a way to breath life and motivation into your reading goals. It’s totally okay if you’ve missed the starting deadline (you don’t even need to officially sign up), The Classics Club is less about following rules and more about getting you to read. With that said, the more you stick to the program, the more motivation there will be for you to follow through.

How many of you are part of The Classics Club. How are you doing on your lists (I’m not very far along, but I just joined in late fall 2012)? Are you or will you try participating in this? I’ll be curious to see if so – and which 20 you choose, and which one was chosen FOR you! (Best to read this post first and then go look at the number chosen.)

Since we’re already reading Crime and Punishment, that will be the only classic I am working on until we’ve finished it.

  1. I’m doing pretty well, I finished my Classics Spin selection today, The Mystery of Mrs. Blencarrow by Margaret Oliphant. It brings me up to 22 out of 75 on my list. (I haven’t blogged about all of them though)> I keep wanting to add more books to the list!

  2. I didn’t join in on the spin but only because I got stuck into Swann’s Way (on my list) and knew it would take me a while to finish it and I’d need a break after! I love the idea of the spin and adding the element of serendipity into the challenge. :)

  3. I love that you said “The Classics Club is less about following rules and more about getting you to read.” Yes! That’s exactly what we’re about and I’m so glad that comes across!
