Do you feel like you’re in a rut with reading goals? Recently, The Classics Club put out a post on “spinning” your classics list, which is basically a way to breath life and motivation into your reading goals. It’s totally okay if you’ve missed the starting deadline (you don’t even need to officially sign up), The Classics Club is less about following rules and more about getting you to read. With that said, the more you stick to the program, the more motivation there will be for you to follow through.
How many of you are part of The Classics Club. How are you doing on your lists (I’m not very far along, but I just joined in late fall 2012)? Are you or will you try participating in this? I’ll be curious to see if so – and which 20 you choose, and which one was chosen FOR you! (Best to read this post first and then go look at the number chosen.)
Since we’re already reading Crime and Punishment, that will be the only classic I am working on until we’ve finished it.
What fun! It’s moments like this I wish I had a blog…
You can still do the classics club, June! I’m not sure about technically signing up – but it’s the making of the list that’s the most fun.
And PS, I wish you had a blog too! So start one.
My spin book ended up being Dangerous Liaisons
I’m looking forward to reading it!
Oooh, good one! I think that’s on my list too – have you seen the movie?
I just checked that out for Delassie’s readalong. It’s probably too late to participate, but I can count it for another challenge. I’ve heard it’s good.
I’m doing pretty well, I finished my Classics Spin selection today, The Mystery of Mrs. Blencarrow by Margaret Oliphant. It brings me up to 22 out of 75 on my list. (I haven’t blogged about all of them though)> I keep wanting to add more books to the list!
And it was VERY short, 2 novellas about 200 pages. Nothing like Crime and Punishment! Though I’m thinking about tackling both Moby Dick and Les Miserables this year. Not at the same time.
Wow, way to go! That’s a LOT!
I didn’t join in on the spin but only because I got stuck into Swann’s Way (on my list) and knew it would take me a while to finish it and I’d need a break after! I love the idea of the spin and adding the element of serendipity into the challenge.
Swann’s Way intimidates me. I’m impressed that you’re reading it!
I love that you said “The Classics Club is less about following rules and more about getting you to read.” Yes! That’s exactly what we’re about and I’m so glad that comes across!
Definitely! You all are doing a great job.
