Cheesecake and Teardrops by Faye Thompson

Faye Thompson holds strong spiritual values that are a result of her upbringing in New York, and which come through in spades in her second book, Cheesecake and Teardrops.

A long time government employee, Faye turned to writing at an early age, writing her first book when only ten years old. Following high school Faye attended York College in New York, and with a career underway with the government, she penned her first book In Her Mother’s Shadow, which was published in 2006.

Cheesecake and Teardrops, her second book, was published in 2009 and has met with resounding reviews. It remains as a strong pick, an indication of the strength of the story that brings three friends together when dealing with issues of body image, relationships, and race.

The friends learn that, although life can have its up and down moments, with trials and tribulations, each can also have the inspiring, beautiful, and fulfilling life.

The Characters

The story centers on three principal characters, Charisma, Tangie, and Heather. All friends, the three attempt to put their lives together.

Premise

Cheesecake and Teardrops is built upon personal experiences, but is a book of fiction that follows three girlfriends as they take on the challenges of daily life, amorous bosses, over-indulging and encapsulating boyfriends, and the daily troubles of battling the rolls and bulges that overindulgences of sweets brings to a person.

The story line begins on the basis of revenge following the death of her father, Faye developed the story on more of a spiritual journey where the three main characters had to deal with forgiveness, redemption, and their own self-images.

One thing that can be learned from all of this is, no matter who we are, or what we do, self-image and can be greatly affect by how we look. One way to attack this is to look for help with diet pills and fatburners. Diet pills could be classed as an “extreme option” but as I read in a post at Phen375-Fatburner.com/fatburner these are potent fat burners that can quickly shed the pounds.

In the story, the growing bulge was one of the issues that the characters had to deal with, which is not dissimilar to most of us. Fortunately for us, we can turn to Phen 375 for help.

The story line is intense, and as Fay Thompson said, the characters realized “behind every successful woman is herself,” and it brings to light the things that people can relate to every day. In short, it could just as easily be of story of anyone of us, and it allows us to see the characters, how they live, where they live, and to experience the culture, the sights and sounds, and the vibrant community of Queens, New York.

It is a story of life, of liberty and personal introspection, and in other words, a journey that we all take from time to time, and it is this reality that brings the characters to life for all of us.

Rating

Cheesecake and Teardrops is an excellent read, with the three girlfriends holding onto friendship loyalty and love. The story winds its way through Queens, exposing us to the life, the sights and the sounds, the dangers of diet pills and fatburner (for me I learn why we shouldn’t buy Phen 375 or any other diet pill) and hope women as judged on their body instead of the people that they are inside.

This is a quick read and well worth it. Most women will feel a bond with these characters as they face life in an ever increasingly cruel world. I rate it UnPutDownable.
